This homeowner reached out after discovering a major issue beneath their home. About a year earlier, they had installed a new bathtub that quickly became a daily ritual—especially for the homeowner’s wife, who used it every day.
Unfortunately, the plumber had never connected the drain line to the sewer system. Instead, every bath was draining directly into the crawlspace below the home. Over time, this led to a significant moisture problem and widespread mold growth.
When we inspected the crawlspace, the mold was extensive and clearly visible on wood framing and other surfaces. Given the severity, the homeowner requested a full remediation—not just fogging, but hands-on cleaning of every affected beam. While this approach is more time-consuming and costly, it provides the highest level of visual and structural restoration.
Because the mold was so clearly present, a pre-test wasn’t necessary. But after the work was complete, we conducted a post-remediation air test. The results showed that mold levels were reduced to safe, normal levels.
Granted, this is one of the more extreme slow water problems we’ve ever encountered—but it’s a good reminder that even small leaks, left unchecked, can lead to major issues over time.
